The Weather Outside is Frightful...

Well it's just a huge bummer that I walked outside today and it felt somewhat like winter again...no bare legs today! Jess and I both put on jeans and I even opted for darker colours (but notice the purple!). Classes were just as gloomy today...why is it that sometimes you love a class and sometimes you just hate it? Today they just seem to drag on and on. But enough sad nonsense! I'm quite excited for tonight because I have read-through for the one-act show I just got cast in on Friday--lovely friends to work with, fascinating play to explore. With that, I'm off to Nazi Germany (figuratively, at least).

well, hello there!
I must say I disagree with Cambria here. I thought the weather was quite lovely today! Of course, a tad warmer wouldn't have hurt anybody...but I am not complaining!
Hmmm...what is there to write about? well, I'm also in a one act!! And thrilled to pieces about it! Rehearsals start tomorrow night and will begin to consume a good chunk of my free time, but I adore working on projects such as this :) hmm..anything else? ohhh...I got a haircut on saturday...and am currently regretting it. Not exactly what I was hoping for. Oh well, C'est la vie! :)
on a side note (well, kinda), what is with us midwesterners and chatting about the weather? I feel like we go on an on about it...but I suppose it really dictates how we dress.
So, anyways.
Hope you are keeping it real, cyberspace! :)

Love,
Jess

Sing a Song of Sixpence...

{P.s. sorry for the weird look on my face...I didn't know J was taking the pic yet!}Soooo it's absolutely lovely to fall back into the posting habit--our Spring break "break" was just too long :( Thankfully, Jess and found time in our busy college schedules to take some photos today...so here they are! The weather this past week has been simply divine, so sunny and warm. First bare legs of the year, can you believe it? We both enjoyed setting aside tights for a day ;) Tomorrow's forecast is about 60, so perhaps we'll be able to soak up some more sun then. Hope you, darling readers, are having a lovely sunny life as well.

The sun's in my heart and I'm ready for love...

mmm my jewelery box. Well, technically it was my mom's, but oddly enough she wasn't too fond of it! I was able to get her to trade her adorable vintage box with my little, sad excuse for a jewelery box. I love jewelery, plain and simple (I suppose I could blame my dear Grandmother Delores for that. She has drawers and drawers of jewelery. It's unreal!)
Pearls before diamonds...always.
Clip-on earrings really are uncomfortable, but so cute! and I can always find them cheap...so I have a ton!
I also love the way my jewelery looks in the box, on my dresser. It's great. :)

The Gold Dress: This dress doesn't really have any story of grandeur. I found it up north at an antique shop and had to have it. My mother tried to talk me out of it (She's convinced I need more dresses and skirts like I need a hole in the head! Sigh...) Anyways, I bought the darn thing and never had a reason to wear it. It still counts as a favorite thing, and I love it so. :)

Much love!
Jess

Alas and Alack!

It's been quite some time since I've posted...alas!...because I realized a horrible truth when I returned home for Spring break. My camera is sitting in my desk drawer in our apartment near school! Thus I must relinquish the week's posting responsibilities to Jess (who is doing an excellent job so far). I will be back next week, though, and looking forward to posting with Jess again.

As for outfits--without pics--I was very comfortable yesterday in my Express jeans, brown shirt, gray boyfriend cardigan, and tan boots :) Since I don't have documentation of said clothing, I'll just stick up a couple pics from a ballet photo shoot I had last summer with my cousin!

Just a few of my favorite things.

Well, it's spring break and I am home, sweet, home. I don't live too far from school, so it isn't a grand event visiting the family and my cozy bedroom. Either way, a break is welcome and I am enjoying the relaxation... and not minding the boring bits (maybe not). That's not to say I wouldn't object to something exciting happening... :)
Anyways, since I'm home, I thought it would be fun to showcase some of my favorite pieces that I have a hard time finding an occasion to wear for, or I just don't ever wear it.
Since I don't have my photographer this week, and I will be wearing my less-than appealing work clothes, I will be spacing these out slightly :)

The Blue Dress: About 4 years ago, my dearest friend Ellie ( a kindred spirit in all things vintage)and I heard about a vintage convention downtown and convinced my mother to drive us down there. Being the poor highschool students that we were, we were limited on what we could even THINK about purchasing...even though we loved just about everything there. Well, Ellie happened upon this blue little number, that looked as though it jumped right off of June Cleaver into the 2000's and she fell in love. Alas, upon trying it on she found it didn't quite fit and like a good friend would do, she insisted I try it on. I resisted, knowing full well how much she loved it and felt that if she couldn't have it, I wouldn't even try it on. She insisted and being the pushover that I am, I tried it on. Lo and behold! It fit. And I was in love. I no longer had a choice. This dress was coming home with me. I came out of that dressing room with it on and because the dealer saw how much I loved it and how well it fit, she gave it to me at a lower price! She was so happy that young people were loving vintage clothing and loved seeing me love it!
Oh, and don't worry, Ellie found an equally (if not more!) darling little blue, floral dress and good times were had by all in our blue dresses :)
Unfortunately, I am no longer the itsy bitsy girl I was 4 years ago and have since gained an inch or two around my waist and the blue dress no longer fits anymore... maybe one day.

and the hot rollers? oh how I love thee. :) These hot rollers belong in a museum. These puppies belonged to my mother when she was in college. I have, probably the biggest and thickest hair you will ever see and these are one of the only things that know how to control it. For show choir we had to sleep in sponge rollers, but for just about every show I have ever been in, these rollers have curled my hair into perfect, smooth, gorgeous curls. They go in and stay in easily and make curls in just about 10 minutes.
There is seriously nothing better. One Christmas, my mother bought me a newer, more modern set. They were miserable. You can't get them in, they don't make good curls, and take forever to heat up.
I dread the day my rollers decide to retire and I have to hunt for a new set. It will certainly be a sad day.

Anyways, hope you enjoy day one of favorite items! Stay tuned for more! :)
Love, Jessie
