It's that time of year...

Please accept our deepest apologies. The end of the year has swallowed us whole and we have been unable to post. Don't fret! We have still been wearing cute outfits...we have just neglected to take pictures of such.
However, the time has come for the annual theater banquet, The Roister Doisters! The pictures above are from last year... The theme is always "Fractured Formal Wear" and it's basically like a "mock Academy Awards." Everyone dresses real sharp and we all go on a river boat down on the river. They feed us, give out awards and we dance the night away.
Cambria and I can hardly wait to reveal this years attire, as it promises to outdo last years...believe it or not. I'll give you a hint about mine... Shoulder. Pads. :)
It's going to be great.
Pictures to come soon!! :)
Much love,
Jess

La Vie en Rose

Has anyone seen the movie Sabrina, starring Audrey Hepburn? It's one of my favorites. There is a scene where she wrote her father from Paris and he is reading what she wrote him. She tells him that someone across the street is playing the song "La Vie en Rose" which, according to her, is the French way of saying, seeing things through rose-colored glasses.
mmm I love that movie. Anyways, I just listened to that song sung by none other than Ella and Louis ;)
it's beautiful, you ought to listen to it now.

The dress I'm wearing in those pictures was a gift from my darling neighbor, Elsie. The other morning, I heard a knock at the door, and it was Elsie holding this dress. She goes, "Hey! I never wear this dress, take it!" and then proceeds to turn around and walk back into her room before I could even bat an eyelash... It's a sweet little sundress that is so comfy and is so easy to wear that I simply cannot for the life of me figure out why she gave it away! Oh well, she won't take it back, and I'm gonna give her a couple skirts from the back of my closet (darling skirts that I just never wear! My mother should be so proud...) so I suppose it will be a fair trade.

Cambria's dress is mildly unique too! Her dress is a maternity dress from the thrift store! Do not be alarmed! She is nowhere near that chapter of her life (although, when she is she will be ready since she owns 2 maternity dresses already... Room to grow!! ;) ) Anyways, eager to try the "floral grunge" look that is back by popular demand this spring, she found this little number and paired it with a belt, and it has quickly become a favorite in her wardrobe. I'd love to borrow it sometime, alas...it would be QUITE short on me. woe is me

Speaking of my woes... Any tall girls out there frustrated with the fashion industry currently? All those darling dresses out there, and we simply cannot wear them! Just about every cute dress from Modcloth, Shopruche, Target(!), Forever 21 comes up, about 6 inches above my knee! And I like a shorter dress as much as the next tall girl, but these are just way too indecent. How is one supposed to sit down?!
What's a tall girl to do? :(
Anyone know of any sites that have cute "longer" dresses? By longer, I mean, that hit my knee? I'm just shy of 5' 9" which isn't THAT tall... well, okay, it's tall... but still! I want to wear cute dresses!
Shucks...

anyways!
that was quite the rant... my apologies!
Hope your Sunday is wonderful! I'm off to get ready for a photoshoot with Cambria's lovely cousin! She's making a "Lookbook" for her photography final! Should be a blast!! :)

Love, Jess!

Moonlight and Love Songs Will Never Be Out Of Date

10 Things That Will Never Be Out of Date:

1) Finishing off an LBD with pearls
2) Rolling down your car windows in the summer and blaring road-trip tunes
3) Spontaneous photo shoots with friends
4) Receiving flowers for absolutely no reason at all
5) Coffee
6) Tea
7) Staying up with a bestie 'til way past your bedtime, laughing the night away
8) Planning vacations you'll never be able to afford
9) Gene Kelly's dancing skills (and handsome smile!)
10) Reading a good book while curled under a blanket watching snow in the moonlight :)

Stars in My Eyes

Well I'm actually posting a pic from Monday night *quelle horreur* This is the outfit I wore to the Film Festival here at school...which was so much fun! Got to see my lovely (and talented) boyfriend win Best Actor, and one of my dear friends win Best Picture! Plus, walking down a red carpet appealed to my inner drama queen ;) Changing subjects altogether, I'm really in the mood to go dancing!!! While I was hanging out during rehearsal tonight, I heard our band playing some darling Big Band music that just made my feetsies itch...alas...Perhaps tomorrow (weather permitting) I'll wear some swingin' style clothes :)

Under a Blanket of Blue

It's no secret that I have a deep love for all things Gene Kelly, Louis Armstrong, and Ella Fitzgerald (to just name a few.)...so, as I am sitting here writing this blog, I can't help but get caught up in the charming lyrics sung by Ella and Louis. Seriously, they have an album of duets and it makes me so happy! :)
Just read these lyrics and tell me you aren't enchanted and wish you had a sweetheart to sit under a blanket of blue with! (Well, I don't...Cambria does.)
Anyways, go ahead and read it! And then, I know you will want to listen to it, and then buy it. Which I would recommend. You won't regret it :)

Under a blanket of blue
Just you and i beneath the stars.
Wrapped in the arms of sweet romance
The night is ours.

Under a blanket of blue
Let me be thrilled by all your charms
Darling, i know my heart will dance
Within your arms.

A summer night's magic, enthralling me so.
The night would be tragic, if you weren't here to shareit my dear,
Covered with heaven above.

Let's dream a dream of love for two,
Wrapped in the arms of sweet romance,
Under a blanket of blue.

mmmm, are you in love? :)
In other news, today was chilly. *sniff* yesterday was so beautiful! I sat outside all day long and even burned my cheeks slightly (I don't even care! I'm just so pleased my skin doesn't glow in the dark now!)
So, I wore my comfy boyfriend sweater that I bought at Goodwill last summer. It's so roomy and lovely... the perfect medicine for a chilly morning! :)
Also, that skirt is Cambria's, but I love it so much and wear it a little too much... I might have to invest in my own one of these days... :) Oh, the joys of roommate sharing!!! :)

Love,
Jess

<3 Soooo it's been a while since I've taken my turn to contribute...but I promise I will soon (perhaps tomorrow?)...in any case, just thought I'd drop a line and hug <3

She's a happy girl strolling...

Hi gang!
I wore this outfit dancing the other night and I lahve it! You've seen this skirt before, but it's one of my favorites! I got it at this darling vintage shop downtown...actually, now that I think about it, most of my outfit was thrifted. Those fabulous red shoes and that darling belt...all thrifted. Man, I love saving money! :)
Anyways, swing dancing the other night was a total win...except oddly enough, I counted 5 other girls with red tennis shoes... Mine was a true Ked... but, still! Who knew red shoes were so trendy?

In other news, this weekend was... wonderful. I am in love with this past weekend... oh, and... THIRTEEN DAYS LEFT OF SCHOOL! whoa...

Later gator!
Jess
