The Fish are Jumping and the Cotton is High...

Tonight I am sitting on my deck during my favorite time of day. It's dusk and the air is finally cooling down and the sun is setting. I'm listening to Ella and Louis and I am dreading going back inside... except the June bugs are starting their "kamikaze" dive bombs. Mildly disturbing...these June bugs are abnormally huge. Seriously.
oh, and I'm working on homework.ugh. time to go in...

Today was one of those days where you try on a million (or 5) different outfits and nothing looks right. And it's humid, so your hair is a mess and your face resembles an oil slick...anyone else know what I'm talking about?
Anyways, I ended up deciding on this outfit and am quite happy with it! Please excuse the fuzziness of the picture...sometimes it happens. :)

Love Jess

PS- I beginning to think no outfit is complete without a brown woven belt. I love this belt. Love it. :)

This is Living.

Hello Hello! Never fear my darlings! I am very much alive and kicking! And wearing clothes, just for the record. My summer has already been quite the whirlwind, but summer is really quite delightful. No complaints.
Like C already mentioned, today was Humid with a capital "H" you could cut the air with a knife.
However, unlike Ms. C, I adore the heat. In my opinion, winter should only exist for December ( I do love a white Christmas) and then it should be lovely and warm the rest of the year. :D oh, if only.

Because of the weather, I wanted to be casual and cool today. So this little number was perfect!

I've missed you! I promise to get my act together and take more pictures of myself (or enlist ma mere to assist me.)

Love,
Jess

Disgusting muggy-warm weather today...alas and alack, now I feel sticky and shiny all the time! If only those beautiful winter months would return! I definitely hold to the fact that you can always put more on, but you can only take so much off :)

This week I will be visiting a possible off-campus housing option with my roomies...I certainly hope it works out, since it would save a pile of money and trouble. Plus, it's nice just to be independent and in a home, isn't it? Anywho, keep you updated on that (perhaps even post some pics).

I think I'll take the rest of the afternoon to finish some summer class homework, read some "Momentary Marriage" by John Piper, and chat with our new Japanese foreign exchange student. Should be quite fun...I adore Sundays!

Ode to a Long Work Day

Oh work, I am so grateful to have you
But I'm sure standing in this shoe
To do my ten hour shift at Border's
For my feet, is a tall order.

And I'm off to work with my lovely books and lovely coworkers for the next ten hours...such loads of fun :P Leaving my poor family at home and leaving my poor feet cooped up in these shoes all day! We will see if I survive...might be a close call, ya know. More later <3

P.S. This skirt was a DRESS but I liked it better this way, so I did some DIY :)

Well perhaps darling Miss Jess isn't going to keep up her end of the blogging deal?! Alas, her days are so filled with pleasure reading and soaking up the sun...Ha, although today there isn't a glimpse of sunshine anywhere. Thus the pathetic indoor photos outside my make-shift summer room at home. It's actually quite wonderful up here in the attic...My bed, desk, and portable/collapsible wardrobe are all hung with sheets for more privacy--like a fort! I've got a couple posters waiting to be hung on the sloped ceiling, and a lovely array of books and old mugs on my shelving unit. And of course, I have my little box of "memorobilia" (sp?) and letters from my sweetheart <3 I miss him...and Jess...sigh, summer isn't as excellent as one would think.

Oh, We’ll Fill the Metro Skies with Country Air

As I write, I'm listening to the live version of Coldplay's "Yellow" on my Pandora station. I just don't understand the appeal of recorded "live" music. Who wants to listen to strangers squealing (or, dear heaven, singing) through their favourite song? Why do some enjoy lyrical and musical deviations from their proclaimed favourite songs (doesn't that defeat the reason they liked the song in the first place)? And as for the eternal instrumental portions added in...well, one can only listen to a song for so long, in my opinion. Perhaps someone can enlighten me :)

On another note (Coldplay live aside), I had a delicious lunch today, thanks to my darling cousin Anna :) We went to her college cafeteria together and had stir fry (mine was shrimp!)and then I had some pita bread and hummus. Yes, too many ethnically diverse foods for one meal, I admit--but sooo tasty. That lunch kinda defines my life, actually...I'm eclectic because my decisions aren't based on normalcy or tradition or probably anything very integrated. I just know what I believe, what I want, and what I've evaluated from around me. Whatever I choose ends up being a blend of all of that...with unique results sometimes :)

Which might explain why I eat stir-fry and hummus pitas...or why I love cheese but hate cheddar...or why I don't like chocolate but adore chocolate soy milk...or why I like to eat healthy but can't stay away from fruit candy...or why my closet contains such a hodgepodge!!!
